Swanage First School was opened in 1897 at Mount Scar to serve the children of Swanage town. We have log books dating back to 1893, before the official opening - mostly they are records of attendance but there are some interesting notes that show just how times have changed!

Three German children from the refugee camp at Hamburg joined for five weeks. They are in Swanage under the International Help for Children Scheme.
