Swanage First School was opened in 1897 at Mount Scar to serve the children of Swanage town. We have log books dating back to 1893, before the official opening - mostly they are records of attendance but there are some interesting notes that show just how times have changed!

Very rough and stormy day. Attendance bad, as those who were away ill last week, but are now better are afraid to venture out in such weather.
